The Whitest Boy Alive

The Whitest Boy Alive é uma banda formada em Berlim composta cantor / guitarrista Erlend Øye, que é também um membro da banda Kings of Convenience, Marcin Öz (baixista), Sebastian Maschat (baterista), e Daniel Nentwig (piano). Trazem um indie pop minimalista/dançante. Estreiaram em 2006 com o álbum "Dreams" na Alemanha; Este que só chegou as lojas do Reino Unido em novembro de 2007. A banda concluiu recentemente o seu segundo álbum, que leva o nome de "Rules" e está para ser lançado no início de março... adiantando um pouco o lançamento...

Fleet Foxes

Folk, Folk e Folk. Direto de Seattle onde as raízes do grunge ainda são a primeira lembrança musical que vem na mente surge o Fleet Foxes com um bom Folk para se distinguir entre muitas bandas levando a essência das belas musicas que contentam os harmônicos de canções bem tocadas e trazendo influencias que variam entre Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Hank Williams e Zombies para a cidade. Tais canções se caracterizam em uma “linha de pop barroco, com influência de rock clássico, definido como “baroque harmonic pop jams” pelos próprios integrantes. A raiz do Foxes veio ainda quando Robin Pecknold conheceu Skyler Skjelset no colegial e mesmo sendo portadores de temperamentos bem diferentes os dois possuíam mutua apreciação por Dylan e Young no qual herdaram de seus pais. Destarte, começaram a compor e dedicar-se completamente a música desde cedo. O grupo destacou-se em algumas pequenas apresentações e chamou a atenção do produtor Phil Ek, produtor de The Shins e Modest Mouse, que os ajudou a gravarem seu primeiro demo em 2006 que teve grande destaque e recebeu ótimas criticas devido ao grande talento e qualidade do grupo. O reconhecimento do grupo ficou grande e lançaram no inicio de 2008 o primeiro álbum oficial pela Warner Music, após o lançamento e a repercussão com as apresentações, o Foxes chegou a 1º lugar em uma das mais populares rádios norte americanas alcançando a Europa e garantindo reconhecimento de “grande revelação de todos os tempos” por vários sites e revistas. Para o título de grande revelação vale a pena ouvir.

Sufjan Stevens

Sufjan Stevens (1 de julho de 1975) é um músico multi-instrumentista norte-americano nascido em Detroit, Michigan. O nome "Sufjan" tem origem persa e significa "vem com uma espada". Ele é considerado parte do ressurgimento do folk indie pop, mas suas influências são bem amplas. Sua música tem sido equiparada ao minimalismo de Steve Reich, mas claro, vai muito além disso. Stevens usa frequentemente em suas músicas temas espirituais, e muitas canções (Seven Swans por exemplo) é inspirada por histórias bíblicas, o que é raro no "mundo indie". Ele anunciou que pretende fazer um álbum para cada um dos 50 estados do EUA o que ele chama de "Fifty States Project", começando com Michigan (2003) e Illinoise (2005). Stevens é mais conhecido por seu álbum "Come on Feel the Illinoise", que atingiu o 1° lugar na Billboard Top e ainda foi considerado por vários críticos como o melhor álbum do ano. Russian Red é o nome artístico da cantora espanhola Lourdes Fernandéz nascida em Madri que ficou muito bem vista no cenário pop independente desde o ano passado para cá, isso graças a seu Álbum de Estréia “I love your glasses” que a colocou em um patamar invejável em tão pouco tempo no circuito alternativo da capital espanhola. A cantora faz um Folk melódico muito bom e realçante, a levada de sua voz doce cantada em um bom inglês deixam as músicas bem emotivas e dão aquele ar old times... Lourdes faz em uma de suas músicas um cover de um grande sucesso da Cindy Lauper que ficou excelente. Recomendadíssimo

The Veils

The Veils é uma banda formada em Londres, liderada pelo vocalista/compositor, Finn Andrews. Andrews é fortemente influenciado por Patti Smith, Bob Dylan e Tom Waits. Em 2001 veio a 1° formação da banda: Finn Andrews (vocal e guitarra), Ben Woollacott (bateria), Adam Kinsella (contrabaixo) e Oliver Drake (guitarra). Eles gravaram juntos o "The Runaway Found", deste veio o single "Lavinia," que foi muito bem recebido pelas rádios no Reino Unido. O álbum tinha apenas dois meses quando Andrews anunciou a saída de Woollacott, Kinsella e Drake. No final de Junho de 2004, Andrews explicou através do web site que um segundo disco já estava em sendo gravado, mas que os membros originais não seriam envolvidos. Andrew recrutou então os membros do ''novo'' The Veils: Liam Gerrard (teclados) e Sophia Burn (contrabaixo), Dan Raishbrook (guitarra) e Henning Dietz (bateria). O grupo gravou o segundo álbum o "Nux Vomica" em Los Angeles, com o produtor Nick Launay, e o álbum foi lançado em 18 de Setembro de 2006. Nux Vomica foi muito elogiado pela crítica, chegando a aparecer diversas vezes em listas dos melhores albuns de 2006. O novo álbum da banda já está gravado e o lançamento está previsto para 6 de Abril de 2009, este receberá o nome de "Sun Gangs". Este esperaremos ansiosos.

Ivy é uma banda Novayorquina composta por Adam Schlesinger, Dominique Durand e Andy Chase. Ivy foi formado em 1994, quando os multi-instrumentistas Andy Chase e Adam Schlesinger convenceram a francesa Dominique Durand, (que nunca havia cantado antes) a gravar uma cassete com quatro músicas deles.
